The Sanctuary will be open for prayer on Good Friday between the hours of 12 noon and 3 pm. These are the hours traditionally considered to represent the time Jesus hung on the cross for us. This is a time to watch faithfully with Jesus through the way of the cross and to make connections between the suffering of Jesus and the suffering in our own lives and in the world. We are called during this time to bear witness with compassion, love, truth and faith. To remember Christ’s great love of all humanity and his great sacrifice though which we gain the hope of eternal life. In order to fill this time with continuous prayer, there will be a sign-up sheet in the Narthex on Sunday asking for commitments of 30-minute increments to be in prayer.
When you come to pray, there will be a list of prayer requests. You may choose to read the Bible, sit in silent meditation, kneel at the altar or pray in your pew. We hope that you will find this a time of renewal, comfort and peace.
