The music ministry at St. Philip’s United Methodist Church is a fellowship of Christians of all ages, who express their faith through music as leaders in worship and as witnesses to that faith in its overall ministry of music throughout the church. Our music programs provide an opportunity for all people, children and adults, to respond to God’s grace and mercy in their lives by giving of their talents back to the glory of God. We believe that God calls people in many different ways. Therefore, we offer music in both traditional forms (organ music, hymns, and choral anthems) and contemporary praise and worship music.
Our music ministry provides a place where people can become part of a smaller faith community within the whole church family at St. Philip’s. Our music ministry is full of caring individuals, committed to service through music, and committed to one another’s care and growth as Christian disciples.
The Chancel Choir presents music of all types for the 10:30 AM Worship Service. The choir rehearses on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Choir Room (behind the altar in the sanctuary). The Chancel Choir leads the congregation in music each Sunday and presents special music at Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas. The Chancel Choir also presents special music throughout the year, such as musical reviews or gospel concerts. Child care is available as requested.
Philip’s Joy Praise Team
Philip Joy is St. Philip’s praise music team that participates in the 10:30 am worship service and will present special music from time to time. They rehearse each Thursday evenings in the Sanctuary at 6:30 pm.
